 | General questions | | Q | What is a Solid Wood Floor? | | A | A solid wood floor or solid wood flooring is 1 piece of wood from top to bottom in any width, thickness and species. |
|
| Q | What is an Engineered Hardwood Floor? | | A | An engineered hardwood floor or engineered hardwood flooring is flooring that has layers of wood pressed and stuck together.
The top is made of a particular species of wood, (oak or ash or walnut for instance) and the bottom layers are made of plywood (birch or other type) with the grains on the bottom layers of plywood which could be 3, 5 or more layers running in different directions. The advantage of this type of flooring means that it is more dimensionally stable than solid wood flooring, and therefore suitable for areas such as a kitchen or utility room or where you have a concrete subfloor? |

| Q | What is a Parquet Floor? | | A | A Parquet Floor is one that has a series of pieces of wood (or wood tiles) that make up a particular sometimes highly elaborate design. A common type of parquet floor is herringbone. A parquet floor can be made up of one or many different species of wood. |

| Q | How do I work out how much flooring I need to buy? | | A | Work out the total area size of your floor in m2, then add 5% (waste). This is the minimum amount of flooring you need to buy. Flooring is sold in packs, each product has a different pack size (m2) and the pack sizes are shown in the product details section. Choose the amount of packs you need to cover the total area size of your floor in m2.
EXAMPLE:
7m x 3m = 21m2 x 5% = (1.05m2 waste) 22.05m2 |
